IT ISN’T YOURS! STOP USING IT!?

The consequences of using wrong skincare products by Favour Iboto

Recently, I developed an unexpected allergy.

Let me tell you how..

I just purchased a new product and was eager to use it. I mean, I had just spent my money on something I always wanted. So, why shouldn’t I use it?

Unfortunately, my body wasn’t seeing this vision as I was.

At first, I thought it might be an adverse reaction with something I had used before. I kept trying to remember and find out the root cause of the problem. But my memory bank was empty as no experience of such was stored therein.

Well, guess who the offender was?

This new friend (product) I had gotten.

BUT HOW?

I was in so much denial because I know what I had spent to get it.

My blood, sweat and tears! ALL GONE!!

I wished it ended there but no!

I began to experience difficulty in breathing and swallowing. I remember casually joking about giving up the ghost.

Quite dramatic! I know, right? But even with the discomfort, I couldn’t resist using my friend. Don’t call me crazy! I know you would too!!

You could see how this friend of mine made me glow! My gosh! The skin was skinning!! Giving up was not an option. So, instead of ditching it, I chose to manage it by finding ways to control it’s harshness.

Me: Hey, girl. I purchased you. So, you will serve me as I want to be served.(rolls my eyes)

The friend: I won’t stop you. Use me as you like. (a downcast look)

“Having an allergy for the first time can be really frustrating but hilarious. However, it is a reminder of how unique our bodies are.

What works for others, might not work for us.”

Always remember to take a patch test before purchasing any product.

To do this:

Apply a small amount to sensitive areas like the skin behind your ears, within your elbow, or on your ankle. Wait for 24 hours to check for any adverse reactions.

Also, be aware that many skincare products, especially oils, may require dilution before use. When purchasing an oil, make sure to check if it’s essential or a carrier oil. Essential oils need to be diluted with a carrier oil before applying to the skin. If this is not done, it becomes harmful to the user.

So, always mix both before application.

Stay safe,

Stay informed

…and remember to always prioritize your skin’s health!
