Ideological Shift in America

America's Subtle Romance in America by Berida Henry Abayomi

Ahead of the November General elections in the United States, the likely questions that will pop up are: what does the United States stand for after years of its so-called progressive ideology, which has unnecessarily imposed division among Americans and the entire world?

To Democrats, America is at its best because of their party and extreme left-leaning ideology of social equality and progressive laws.

To Republicans, America is on its worst path yet—treading towards communism and against all they stood for. There is another perspective we must consider; it is actually not a perspective, but a question: what does America stand for, and what does the world think about it?

Over the years, the United States has fought against communism in Korea, Afghanistan, Cuba, Vietnam, Nicaragua, and El Salvador. We must also not forget about its continued push to unsettle communism in Asia and mirror a fairly democratic institution among Asians. However, there has been a political shift in American politics that the world is not aware of; America is having a subtle dine with communism.

First, Democrats have ushered in an era of media monopoly and toxic interference in the human landscape. We must look at the continued left-leaning edification of the media in the United States. Gone are the days when people turn to Western media for credible information. Democrats have weaponized the media with their own understanding of equality and fairness, demonizing the idea of patriotism and attacking the individual rights of the very people they are supposed to protect.

Secondly, Democrats have called for a cultural shift in gendering and prosecuted political opponents through the media. Not once, not twice, have Democrats accused Republicans of stroking fear among Americans, claiming that there’s nothing wrong with the American dream. Yet, we can all feel the change. Democrats have been inciting fear that all rights must be represented, but whose rights are being represented? The so-called ‘majority’ is actually the minority! In their bid for power, Democrats are promoting progressive ideology that the majority of Americans don’t want; an example is the LGBTQ+ rights. The media has been forced to reflect gender identity to children, propagate trans-gendering, and prosecute critics.

Lastly, Democrats have institutionalized ‘anti-elitism’ among Americans, repeating the rhetoric of taxing the rich and eliminating wealth gaps. It is worthy to note that America’s strength revolves around its capitalist ideology; the industrial progression in the United States was fashioned by the elites they want to impose harsher taxes on. Republicans are viewed as the party for the elites, while Democrats are regarded as the party for the middle class. However, the notion is deceptive because both parties have elites supporting them and have interests that must be represented. Democrats must wind down on ‘anti-elitism’ to avoid sowing more discord among innocent Americans.

It is unusual to see one of the greatest democracies in the world falling into the abyss of communism. The process might seem gradual, but it’s happening, and it is catastrophic. The assassination attempt on Donald Trump showed that there is a great divide among Americans, and it is a consequence of the ideological shift in the United States.

The upcoming election will determine the fate of America on the world stage, but the question still remains: when will America’s romance with communism end?
